The Sports Emmys will be handed out in May. The in-person ceremony will be held in New York at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall. Nominations were released on Wednesday.
ESPN lead all networks with 40 nominations. As a group, the ESPN networks, including ESPN+, picked up 62 nominations. The show that lead the way with nominations came from NFL Network though. NFL 360 picked up 12 nominations, two more than the 2021 Summer Olympics and picking up more than twice as many nominations as E:60 and Hard Knocks, which tied for third.
One show that is hard to overlook is the ManningCast. Both Peyton and Eli Manning scored nominations for their work on ESPN 2’s alternate presentation of Monday Night Football. Peyton is nominated for “Outstanding Personality – Sports Event Analyst” while Eli picked up a nod for “Outstanding Personality – Emerging On-Air Talent”.
The NFL’s outreach to younger viewers also paid off. Nickelodeon’s NFL Slimetime picked up three nominations, including one for Best Studio Show – Weekly. It will go against the likes of College GameDay, FOX NFL Sunday, Inside the NBA and Outside the Lines. The network’s presentation of a 2022 NFC Wildcard Game also picked up a nomination for best graphics.
