Rudy Giuliani: People at Fox News Still Believe the Election Was Rigged

77 WABC host Rudy Giuliani was recently indicted by a Georgia District Attorney for his involvement in the plot by former President Donald Trump to overturn the Peach State’s presidential election results. However, he believes he’s not the only media member to still believe the election was rigged against Trump.

During an appearance on Sid and Friends in the Morning on 77 WABC, Giuliani maintained that he has evidence that will prove the former President correct.

“I’m as sure as a lawyer can be. I mean, I’m never sure until I go prove my case in court,” said Giuliani. “If you want to ask me do I have the evidence I could bring the court and I believe will prevail? Yes. Sure. Absolutely.”

Rosenberg then asked if being arrested and indicted had changed his tune or scared him into believing something different, the afternoon host argued that he’s not alone in his opinion.

“There are some people that have (changed their opinion) and they believe the election was rigged. And they go say, ‘No, we don’t believe it anymore’. They’re doing that to keep their job. It’s happened at Fox News a couple of times,” said Rudy Giuliani. “A couple of people over there who said (on the air) they don’t believe the election was rigged, have told me they do (believe it was rigged). There are some people that work with us who have had to cave in to keep their bar license. I couldn’t live with myself if I did that.”

Fox News settled a lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems earlier this year. After the $787.5 million settlement, the network said “We acknowledge the Court’s rulings finding certain claims about Dominion to be false. This settlement reflects FOX’s continued commitment to the highest journalistic standards. We are hopeful that our decision to resolve this dispute with Dominion amicably, instead of the acrimony of a divisive trial, allows the country to move forward from these issues.”

Bally Sports Terminates National Desk Employees

Bally Sports has eradicated its entire national desk, leading most of those employees to be laid off from the network. Managers, writers and other content creators lost their jobs after helping execute the company’s content strategy upon operating regional sports networks.

Earlier in the week, executive producer of gaming content Brad Evans and digital sports content producer Maggie Hendricks announced that they had been relieved of their duties. All of these layoffs are part of a larger plan to adopt a new localized video strategy as the regional sports network persists in a dynamic media ecosystem.

Eight employees of the national desk were laid off by the company; however, there were some who ended up lasting through the cuts. Popular correspondent Annie Agar and hockey content creator Pete Blackburn remain. Both work on multi-year contracts, which contrasts from the other employees who lost their jobs.

Sources with knowledge of the situation told Front Office Sports that the moves were unrelated to the bankruptcy, which parent company Diamond Sports Group recently requested assistance from a mediator in resolving. As a part of these proceedings, Diamond will make determinations as to which local teams it looks to keep and those it wants to neglect, selectively rejecting contracts. While MLB has a local media division in place to broadcast games if Diamond drops the rights, it is unknown how the NBA or NHL would handle such a situation.

College GameDay Drops ‘Comin’ to Your City’ Open After 16 Years

There is a lot of change coming to College GameDay in 2023. One of the first changes fans will notice when the show makes its season debut on Saturday is the theme song.

After 16 years, country duo Big & Rich is out. “Comin’ to Your City” will not be part of the show this year. The artists made the announcement via social media.

In the video, the duo teases that a new era is beginning for the show.

“We’re excited to officially pass the torch to these extremely talented artists,” they said. “We can’t say who just yet, but tune in to ESPN on Saturday, September 2nd at 9 a.m. to find out.”

John Rich is an outspoken conservative. That has prompted some fans to suggest that politics is the motivation behind the change. 

The fact that Big & Rich are participating in promoting the show and its new open would suggest that is not true. If it were, it is hard to imagine they would be so amicable about the split.

Shan & RJ Dismiss Super Bowl Halftime Report Because it is From Craig Carton

Can you trust a report from FS1’s Craig Carton? The cast of Shan & RJ on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas isn’t so sure.

Shan Shariff was excited by a report that the NFL was considering using a collection of boy bands from the 80s and 90s to fill the Super Bowl halftime show until RJ Choppy revealed the report came from Carton.

“Oh. Never mind,” said Shariff on Friday morning’s show.

Choppy thought there may be reason to believe the report. He made the case for Carton’s credibility.

“Because he’s in New York and he’s been there forever, he has some kind of connection with the office of the NFL.”

According to Carton’s report, a show similar to the West Coast 90s rap show that won rave reviews at Super Bowl LVI is in the works and would feature Backstreet Boys, Boyz II Men, 98 Degrees and a potential reunion of N*Sync among others.

“He’s being fraudulent,” co-host Bobby Belt joked, referencing Carton’s time in federal custody on fraud charges.

Shariff suggested that Carton’s reports have a history of not always being reliable. Choppy acknowledged that when Carton says this is what he has heard, there is no guarantee he didn’t hear it from someone on the street or at the golf course.

“He heard it from his cell mate,” quipped Belt.

Earlier this week, a report claimed CNN was considering former New York Times CEO Mark Thompson as one of its top choices to replace departed President and CEO Chris Licht. 1210 WPHT’s Nick Kayal wonders why he would even be a candidate.

During Friday’s episode of Kayal & Company, the Philadelphia host questioned CNN’s motives for hiring Thompson, who previously oversaw British television outlets like the BBC and Channel 4.

“When you’re struggling, I don’t know that you want to go and pilfer away people or former people that worked at another struggling entity. It seems like if the Titanic is going down, you don’t want to put more weight on top of the ship,” Kayal said of Thompson and his tenure at The New York Times.

“We know CNN has been on the struggle bus for a couple of years now,” continued Nick Kayal,”But I find this interesting because The New York Times has been losing subscribers and subscriptions and readers for many many years now. We know they are super super left. And the market for that continues to shrink by the day.

“So if you’re CNN, and you’re trying to reestablish yourself and recreate an identity or go back to the quote, glory days, I don’t know that you want to go to a guy from The New York Times who was with the company up until 2020.”

According to a report from Semafor, Thompson is viewed as a leading candidate by Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav due to his experience as a television “turnaround artist” for his work in British television.

After the first 2024 Republican Presidential debate Wednesday, a question continued to surface: Is the current format the best format? 710 WOR host Mark Simone has similar questions but believes a shift in attention span has altered the debate format.

At the first debate Wednesday, Fox News anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum mixed up questions and how long answers could be at various times throughout the debate. Simone said that while Baier and MacCallum did good work in their roles, they were bound by limits of viewers’ attention.

“It’s a terrible format. The worst. But this one was pretty good,” The Mark Simone Show host argued. “A lightning round? ‘I want a one-word answer’. This should be illegal. It’s a presidential candidate and a one-word answer? I want to hear the guy talk. I want to hear him in depth on here. Some sudden ‘I want a one-word answer here’, and then 30 seconds? You know, the Lincoln/Douglas debates, I think, went on for five days. And when they brought up the topic, each person spoke for a half an hour on the topic.

“But it’s the internet age. It’s the Twitter world. You can’t talk for a half hour on anything. Nobody’s gonna listen. Even on a TV show, every segment — five guests, three minutes, boom, on to the next thing. So it’s just the way people are built nowadays, but the debates always get criticism. It’s just normal.”

Tucker Carlson’s recent interview with former President Donald Trump has performed exceptionally well on X, formerly Twitter. Charlie Kirk believes the media landscape has shifted because of it.

According to public analytics available on X, the interview between the former Fox News host and former President has received more than 250 million views. However, that figure is skewed due to X’s definition of “views”. A community note claims “views” on X are simply the number of times the video appeared on screen, not actually times the video has been viewed by users.

Nonetheless, Kirk argued that the interview was a smashing success for Carlson and Trump, and pointed to it as proof that things will be different going forward.

“The primary debate on Fox News had around 20M tune in,” Charlie Kirk wrote in a post to X. “10x the views for Trump. The media landscape is forever changed.”

Preliminary numbers for the first 2024 Republican Presidential debate show an average of 12.8 million viewers on Fox News and Fox Business. A report from The Hollywood Reporter claims that if Nielsen television ratings operated under the same standard as X views, the debate would have had 46.8 billion views.

While the “views” statistic is in question on X, the number of reposts, quotes, and likes is not. As of this publication, the interview between Trump and Carlson features nearly 200,000 reposts, featuring an additional nearly 20,000 quotes, and has been liked more than 780,000 times.

WARC Projects 3.3% Audio Advertising Increase in 2024

The words “economic headwinds” are used frequently in 2023, but according to projects from WARC, ad spending will grow 8.2% globally in 2024.

The analysis comes from a comprehensive study conducted by the company that accounts for various forms of advertising.

Audio advertising is expected to grow 3.3% in 2024, ballooning to more than $36 billion.

“High interest rates, spiraling inflation, military conflict, and natural disasters have made for a bitter cocktail over the preceding 12 months, but the latest earnings season shows that the ad market has withstood this turbulence and has now turned a corner,” WARC Director of Data, Intelligence, and Forecasting James McDonald said.

“Our new measurements show how the fortunes of just five companies have a major bearing on the prospects of the industry at large, and that these companies are on course to record oversized gains in the coming months.”

Additionally, WARC expects social media to see expansive growth. The company projects nearly 20% of all advertising will be placed with social media outlets. Also, outdoor and cinema advertising to see growth in the next calendar year.

Meanwhile, linear television continues to face a decline in the ad market.

Harry Teinowitz Finds Liver, Thanks Broadcasters Foundation for Assistance

Harry Teinowitz has the new liver he so desperately needed. After seven attempts to find a donor that went nowhere, the eighth time was the charm. 

In spring of this year, Teinowitz made his need for a new liver known, talking to Barrett Sports Media and advocating for himself on social media. He received support from people across the industry, but it took a few months before he actually found a matching organ donor.

He said it was one of two miracles that came his way. In the Broadcasters Foundation of America newsletter on Thursday, he wrote that the group’s grant was the other.

“The grant from the BFOA has done for me what I imagine it has done for many others in my situation, helped,” the Chicago sports radio icon said. “I’m actually able to pay off my bills and not have to borrow money from family and friends.”

Teinowitz encouraged everyone that is unfamiliar with the group and their work to take time to learn more about it and the financial assistance it aims to provide broadcasters and former broadcasters in need.

“Hopefully you will never need this grant, but you might, or maybe someone you worked with and their family just might. That’s what this Broadcasters Foundation of America grant is all about. It has been a real difference maker for me, as it could be for you, and those you’ve worked with.”

More than 1000 professionals in the radio and television industries have been helped by the Broadcasters Foundation of America. The group’s mission is to help those in the profession that are in need of acute financial assistance as the result of illness or other medical hardships.

Brit Hume Denies Fox News Has Banned Mention of Tucker Carlson

Earlier this week, Chadwick Moore — the biographer of Tucker Carlson — claimed Fox News hosts are forbidden from mentioning the former network star. Fox News’ chief political analyst Brit Hume has thrown cold water on that allegation.

During an appearance on The Benny Show, Moore claimed “a source inside Fox who still works there told me that they are totally banned — all shows — from even acknowledging Trump will appear (with Carlson). Whatever happens on the show, if Trump breaks news, they can’t mention it. There’s been a policy in place since Tucker was taken off the air that you can’t say his name on air. He’s like Voldemort, ‘He who shall not be named’. Explicitly, everyone at Fox was told they can not mention this or what happens on it.”

He added that “people who consider themselves real journalists” at Fox News are unable to report on the news due to the “vendetta” executives have against Carlson.

After Moore’s comments went viral, Fox News contributor Brit Hume chimed in, claiming he’s never been told about the edict.

“Funny, I have heard nothing of the sort,” Hume wrote in a post to X, formerly Twitter.

On the air Wednesday evening, Hume said about the Trump/Carlson exchange “I guess he did this pre-taped interview with Tucker Carlson for presentation on Twitter. I’m interested to see how that goes and whether there’s any real news made out of that.”

The 80-year-old Hume has been a mainstay at Fox News. He joined the network in 1996 and hosted Special Report from 1998 to 2008 before moving to an analyst role with the network that he still holds today.

Carlson hosted a sit-down interview with former President Donald Trump Wednesday, published moments before his former network took the air with coverage of the first 2024 Republican Presidential debate in which Trump refused to participate. According to publicly available analytics from X, the interview has seen more than 250 million views.
