The news of the changes comes on the heels of another shuffling inside the NBC Sports booth, as NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. announced his departure earlier this month.

We've seen former players jump directly to the booth, with varying levels of success. Have the NFL TV partners learned their lesson by being burnt in the past?

On NBC stations alone, the game averaged 1.86 million viewers throughout its broadcast window.

"I feel that I’m still at the top of my game, and more than that, I’m still challenged."

The contest averaged 23.0 million viewers on Peacock, local NBC affiliates and NFL+, according to data from Nielsen Media Research.
