I may be living in some sort of fantasyland that I frequently rail about in these columns. I don’t believe that these special moments are unusual or examples of confirmation bias. This is real life.

This shouldn’t take much time and, in fact, might add to the on-air conversation. The host can give real reasons why some of the polls about your market’s midterms are good or bogus, beyond “How can Candidate X be ahead?” or “You can’t believe any of the polls.”

It’s about belonging. Viewers feel like they’re part of something bigger than themselves. The best News/Talk stations create that same feeling. They become a gathering place for listeners who share common interests, concerns, passions and experiences.

News/talk radio lives on timing, credibility, and conversation. Grok, with its direct pipeline to X — the platform Musk also owns — can surface all three faster than a producer can scroll.

Too much familiarity can create an inside conversation that loyal P1 listeners will get but that will be difficult for non-regular listeners to follow. Our shows should always be designed around what the target audience is experiencing, discussing, and feeling.
