ESPN’s alternate Sunday Night Baseball broadcast will debut on April 10. The first Kay-Rod Cast featuring Yankees play-by-play man Michael Kay and slugger Alex Rodriguez will see the duo watching the Yankees take on the Boston Red Sox.
Kay and ARod will be in New York at ESPN’s South Street Seaport studios. They will welcome guests throughout the game as they present a more relaxed and conversational commentary, similar to the ManningCast of Monday Night Football.
“We’re just essentially going to do a radio talk show while we’re watching the game,” Kay told BSM’s Derek Futterman earlier this month. “[It’s] not quite the Manningcast, but somewhere between the Manningcast and a regular broadcast…. That’s going to be fun to do, and I’ll get a chance at seeing how I do nationally with those games.”
ESPN will use the Kay-Rod Cast eight times this season. On Thursday, the network released a schedule and revealed five of the matchups.
