YES Network to Release a Streaming Service Soon

Randy Levine, president of the New York Yankees joined WFAN’s Carton and Roberts to make the formal announcement that the team was extending its current deal with WFAN to remain the flagship radio station of the New York Yankees.

Also on that call, Carton and Roberts both broached the subject about streaming and the fans’ frustration that they cannot find their team’s games. Roberts asked if Levine and the YES Network as well as the Yankees have seen a lot of backlash for their choosing to stream their Friday games on Amazon Prime and the league’s deal with another streaming service, Peacock.

“I think there’s always going to be a balance between digital or streaming and linear,” said Levine, “and you have to provide coverage for all of your fan base. Younger fans tend to watch the stream.”

Levine then said that the YES Network was going to explore the non-linear efforts in short time by launching their own streaming service.

“You’re going to see a direct to consumer package come out from YES very, very soon. It’s a balance.”
