Louisiana-Monroe has a new radio voice as of Monday. The University named Mike Hammett the program’s “Voice of the Warhawks”.
Hammet was elevated from his post as the radio voice of the University’s women’s basketball and baseball teams and hosting the ULM Football Tailgate Show. He will call the team’s football, men’s basketball and stay on as the university’s baseball program.
“I’m thrilled to become the next ‘Voice of the Warhawks,'” Hammett said. “It has been a life-long dream of mine to broadcast college athletics at the highest level, and this opportunity achieves that goal. Thank you to (athletic director) Scott McDonald, (Warhawk Sports Properties General Manager) Greg Lynch and Learfield for allowing me to transition into this role.”
“We’re excited to announce Mike Hammett as the new radio ‘Voice of the Warhawks,'” McDonald said. “We’re so fortunate to have someone with Mike’s talent and experience already on our Warhawk Sports Properties’ team. He’s already a familiar voice to our fan base since he’s been calling the ULM baseball and women’s basketball games for the last four years. Mike has earned this opportunity, and we look forward to the smooth transition into his expanded role.”
Hammett takes over the football and men’s basketball play-by-play role following Nick White’s move to ESPN+ coverage for football, men’s and women’s basketball and softball.
