WABC Honors Bernie McGuirk At Mass, Renames Main Studio After Him

77 WABC Radio dedicated its main studio to the legendary Bernie McGuirk Wednesday following an emotional mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

The long-time morning radio personality passed away earlier this month from prostate cancer.

The formal announcement about the studio dedication was made at a press conference following the mass.

McGuirk co-hosted “Bernie & Sid in the Morning” with Sid Rosenberg. The pair met while working for Don Imus in the early 2000s.

Rosenberg spoke at the mass, telling those in attendance that he became very close to McGuirk on and off the air.

“When I wrote my first book about 12 years ago that nobody read, Bernard wrote at the end of his chapter that I look forward to the day when me and Sid can do our own show together, that was in 2010,” he said.

“As luck would have it, six years later thanks to the courage shown by Chad Lopez, that chapter from Bernard became a reality,” he added.

“I just want to say that I am so overwhelmed by the amount of people that are here to remember my dad,” said Melanie McGuirk. “I would like to say thank you to my dad’s WABC family.
