NBC Sports will air its first ever women’s college basketball broadcast Saturday as #9-ranked Notre Dame will face Cal in the inaugural Shamrock Classic in St. Louis.
In addition to being the first women’s college basketball broadcast for the network, it will also feature an all-women announcing crew.
Zora Stephenson will handle play-by-play duties while analyst LaChina Robinson and sideline reporter Isis Young round out the crew. All three women played Division I college basketball.
Not only is it the first women’s college basketball broadcast in NBC history, it’s the first college basketball game of any kind aired on the network since Providence defeated Notre Dame on February 28th, 1998.
Coverage of the Shamrock Classic begins Saturday at 4:00 PM on NBC.
