Robin Meade Bids Farewell to ‘Morning Express’

After a 21-year run, Morning Express with Robin Meade concluded this morning on HLN. It was announced last week that Meade, along with all original news programs on HLN, would be part of the budget cuts put in place by new CNN CEO Chris Licht.

Meade thanked staffers, executives, and viewers during the show’s final segment.

“I’m so grateful to our bosses who over the years either started this show or allowed it to continue. Most of all, they allowed us to be ourselves,” Meade said before addressing the production crew who had assembled on the set. “Doing this show with you has been the joy of my life. And my biggest concern is for my colleagues and that they land on their feet. I wish I could make this change less scary.”

After noting that HLN viewers will be in the hands of “incredible journalists” with the network’s “corporate cousins” at CNN, Meade turned her attention towards viewers, with the final words of her tenure with the channel.

“I’ve heard that you mourn something when it passes, either because you feel guilty for leaving something unresolved or you mourn because you truly appreciate what it was. The emotions this morning are of appreciation of you and for this 21-year run. You will always be my morning sunshine.”
