Audacy is making two programming moves in New York City, which will have an influence on 1010 WINS and WCBS 880’s on-air content.
The company has hired Lynda Lopez to handle midday anchor duties on 1010 WINS. Lopez’s addition coincides with veteran journalist Brigitte Quinn sliding over to sister station WCBS 880, where she will host and serve as Managing Editor of “Newsline,” weekdays from 10a-1p ET.
“Since we embarked on our journey of two unique brands but one cohesive news organization, we have made tremendous strides increasing our coverage of the tri-state area and today’s announcements continue that exciting trend,” said Ivan Lee, Brand Manager, 1010 WINS and WCBS 880. “Lynda’s knowledge of New York City is a perfect fit for the legendary 1010 WINS, while Brigitte and “Newsline” allows WCBS 880 to go beyond the headlines. Plus, Sophia’s experience will make sure that we have focused coverage on one of the largest and most important parts of our listening area – Long Island.”
Quinn has hosted “Newsline with Brigitte Quinn,” a daily four-hour news program, since 2021. Prior to that she anchored mornings at the station for eight years. Her career includes stops at MSNBC, NBC News at Sunrise, and FOX Newschannel. She was also the first female to co-anchor morning drive on WCBS radio back in the 1990’s.
Lopez on the other hand has a surplus of local and network level experience. She’s earned an Emmy for outstanding news program and a place in the prestigious “Who’s Who Among Hispanic Americans.” She served as a news anchor on WCBS-TV before moving My9 and FOX 5 in similar roles. Her prior experience includes stints with WNBC-TV, E! News, ABC News and Audacy’s WCBS 880 and WNEW.
The moves involving Quinn and Lopez are expected to go into effect in mid-February. Additionally, Audacy has confirmed that reporter Sophia Hall has been elevated to Long Island Bureau Chief.
