Last month, Bob Iger announced a restructuring at The Walt Disney Company. The move made ESPN a separate division. As a result, Jimmy Pitaro received a new title. Now that he is the Chairman of ESPN, others are seeing their roles and titles change as well.
Burke Magnus is the first beneficiary. He has been upped to President of Content. He will now oversee all content and news gathering operations.
Magnus had previously worked on securing rights deals for the network, particularly in the college sports space. He has also overseen a number of content initiatives in the past. Now, his duties will include supervising all content under the ESPN umbrella.
Rosalyn Durant is now the Vice President of Programming and Acquisitions. This is a return to ESPN for her. She comes back to the network after a stint in Disney’s parks division, overseeing facilities. In her new role, Durant will be charged with managing the network’s live game rights and acquiring new ones.
During her previous stint at ESPN, Durant was the head of the company’s college sports networks. She is considered instrumental in the launch of the ACC Network.
“There will be a period of transition for both Burke and Rosalyn. Burke will continue to be involved in certain negotiations during this transition period while Rosalyn wraps up her work,” Pitaro wrote in a memo obtained by Variety.
