CNN is hosting a New Hampshire town hall event featuring former President Donald Trump, and former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly believes the situation is beneficial for both parties.
During his No Spin News and Analysis program Thursday, O’Reilly argued that the event makes all the sense in the world for CNN as it tries to regain its footing after being passed in the ratings by both Fox News and MSNBC.
“Why would it be wrong? That’s so ridiculous. He’s running for president. He’s ahead in all the Republican polls. Why wouldn’t you have him on? Come on. This is insane. This is a smart move for CNN because they’re so marginalized. Ever since (Chris Cuomo) left, people have said ‘If Cuomo’s not there, I’m not bothering’,” O’Reilly joked.
“Now, they’re trying to come back, so this will get them a lot of attention. The left-wing zombies who usually watch — all seven of them — will be overwhelmed by people who want to see a town hall moderated by a professional journalist — Kaitlan Collins — so why not do it?…CNN is smart to do it.”
O’Reilly then said one of the motivating factors for Trump to participate is so he can “stick it” to Fox News.
“Fox News Channel, the ownership, is endorsing DeSantis, and Trump is saying ‘Look, I helped you,” and he’s mad. So that’s what’s going on there.”
