Chris Brown Remains Interim Voice of Bills As John Murphy Continues Recovery

The Buffalo Bills will start the season without John Murphy. Chris Brown will continue to hold down the fort as the voice of the team’s radio broadcasts for the time being.

Murphy suffered a stroke last year. Brown stepped in to finish out the 2022 season.

Last month, John Murphy told The Buffalo News that he was not ready to make a decision to come back. He turned down an interview request saying that at that time, he was not ready to speak in public.

The statement from WGR and the Bills makes it clear that Brown has the play-by-play job on an interim basis.

“We continue to wish John and the Murphy family the best in his recovery,” the statement concludes.

John Murphy has been the play-by-play voice of the Buffalo Bills since 2004.
