San Antonio’s spring numbers are in. The market’s leading sports brand, San Antonio’s Sports Star was fairly consistent across the board, with a few positives heading into the fall.
The brand’s top story for the quarter came during middays. The daypart was split between ESPN Radio’s Greeny, and former local show Halftime with Jimenez & Spence featuring former host Mike Jimenez and station program director Tim Spence. , which grabbed a 2.3. Greeny was 20th with a 1.2 share from 10a-12p. Jiminez & Spence finished 13th from 12p-3p with a 2.3 share.
One other note worth passing along from Jimenez & Spence’s final book. The local duo had greater appeal with the older end of the demo. Among Men 45-54, the show was 8th, pulling a 3.8 share.
Looking at morning drive, R&R in the Morning with Rob Thompson and Rudy Jay finished 20th with Men 25-54 with a 1.0 share. In afternoons, The Blitz with Jason Minnix and Joe Reinagel were also ranked 20th but delivered a higher drive time share with a 1.6.
The station’s night time (M-F 7p-12a) performance also warranted attention this quarter. The time slot, which consists primarily of ESPN Radio programming finished tied for 10th in May, and tied for 12th in June.
San Antonio’s Sports Star decided to shake things up just before the end of the book. The station introduced a new lineup days later. Heading into the fall, all eyes will be on those changes and how the local market responds to them.
Data for the market’s other local sports radio brand, Ticket 760, was not available to Barrett Sports Media this book.
