As the future of the Pac-12 remains uncertain, conferences like the Big Ten are already getting the ball rolling on how to react should the Pac-12 go extinct.
Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti is having the conference explore options of potentially adding Oregon and Washington if the Pac-12 doesn’t survive, and the Big Ten is also looking at how it could maximize earnings from its media rights should the Ducks and Huskies join the fray.
While networks have been willing to shell out record amounts to schools for broadcast rights, and will plan to do as the Big Ten’s massive $7 billion contract, it’s unclear whether networks would be willing to shell out more if Washington and Oregon join.
