ESPN 1000 host David Kaplan has a new idea for a sports debate/trivia show inspired by Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott.
On Kap & J. Hood on Wednesday, Kaplan said the story of McDermott giving a fan a ride home after experiencing some travel woes gave him an idea for a contest he wanted the station to put on.
David Kaplan would like to have a contest where one lucky listener could get a ride home by Kap, but the two would have to have a debate about sports.
“I think that would be a great, fun contest,” he said. “And I would enjoy it. I’m a man of the people, man.”
The show determined the name of the contest would be “Kap Kab” inspired by the Discovery show Cash Cab.
“As long as we vetted said fan that he or she wasn’t a lunatic, A. B, they have to have a great depth of sports knowledge,” Kaplan said.
“We gotta have an intelligent debate about sports along the way,” he added. “We may not agree on everything and so I would love to hear from a man or a woman of the people that is a diehard.”
Co-host Jonathan Hood didn’t think it was a good idea. Too many crazy people out there.
“This is unbelievable,” Hood said. “Are you out of your mind?”
