Vince Marotta: Dave Pasch Has My Dream Job

Arizona Sports host Vince Marotta envies how busy announcer Dave Pasch is this time of year.

Pasch is the radio play-by-play voice of the Arizona Cardinals during football season, but Pasch also calls NBA and college basketball for ESPN where he’s worked the last 20 years.

On Bickley & Marotta on Tuesday, Marotta said Pasch has to be racking up the airline miles constantly being on assignments.

“We don’t talk enough about Dave Pasch’s schedule,” Marotta said.

“When you’re very talented you have options,” co-host Dan Bickley responded.

Marotta, while he has no intentions of leaving his current post at Arizona Sports, did admit he lives vicariously through Pasch.

“He pretty much has my dream job,” he said before being asked to clarify which job in particular. “The whole combo platter of all of it.”

Vince Marotta was asked if he would really be happy having to constantly be on the road traveling. But Marotta said he did some extensive travel when doing play-by-play earlier in his career. But that was a different time.

“I was a much younger man at that point,” he said. “But it was rough, though, cause it was the side job. I was doing another job at the time and then having to do the prep. If that was your full job, it was just all day getting ready for broadcasts, sign me up.”
