95.5 WSB afternoon host Eric Von Haessler isn’t your traditional talk radio host. He often goes to great lengths to use the news to entertain the audience, but remarked sometimes that’s more difficult than others.
During The Von Haessler Doctrine, the Atlanta host mentioned a recent story that a black hole the size of 60 Earths opened on the sun. He joked that there wasn’t a lot he could do with that story.
“Sometimes you see news that there’s no doubt that it’s news. You just wonder like, what the hell can I do with this? That would be this news,” joked Von Haessler. “So it’d be ‘News that you can’t use’. I’m sure we’re not the first people that have ever said that and some slightly humorous vein.
“There’s no doubt that that’s news. I just don’t know what I can do with it. Should I go to the store and stock up? I have no idea what I could do. Hey, you know what’d be fun? In a Marvel, crappy movie, kind of way? Just have somebody go gather up 60 Earths and shove them in there.”
He later joked that stories like that are simply used as filler to continue the news cycle, which he has often railed against.
“I’m going to start a new segment soon. And it’s just gonna be called feeding the news cycle. I think things just show up and they just fed,” Eric Von Haessler continued. “There’s another one that says Georgia has the unhappiest employees in the country. And then here’s here’s some good news, Atlanta ranked among safest from package theft in 2023. So we are number one. We are number one!”
