SiriusXM has announced that it has signed several active players in the NFL to host a weekly player-focused radio program. Airing on Tuesdays from 7 to 8 p.m. ET on SiriusXM NFL Radio, The Players’ Point will feature Miami Dolphins running back Alec Ingold, Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Allen Robinson, and veteran tight end Colin Thompson as rotating hosts.

All three athletes are previous participants of the league’s Broadcasting and Media Workshop, which aims to help players catalyze careers in media. Various former NFL players currently working in sports media became interested and developed their skills through this endeavor, which includes various veteran media executives and broadcasters providing instruction.

On a weekly basis, two of the three players will host the show which will include conversation from the perspectives of these athletes. The program officially makes its on-air debut on Tuesday, Dec. 12 with Robinson and Thompson on the air. Each episode will include analysis and insights regarding the game of football as the playoff push intensifies.

“We’re really excited about the addition of The Players’ Point to SiriusXM NFL Radio,” Eric Spitz, vice president of sports programming for SiriusXM, said in a statement. “We’re bringing together active NFL players who combine talent and experience on the field with a terrific ability to communicate one-of-a-kind insights into the game. That produces excellent and exclusive content for our listeners, while also giving Alec, Allen and Colin invaluable experience in a live broadcast setting.”

Ingold is in his second season with the Miami Dolphins after beginning his NFL career as a member of the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders. He played college football at Wisconsin and is currently a nominee for this year’s Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, bestowed upon a player who demonstrates a commitment to philanthropy and community.

Robinson was drafted out of Penn State University in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Throughout his nine-year career in the league, he has played for the Jaguars, along with the Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Rams, and he is currently in the midst of his first season with the Steelers.

Thompson played college football both for the University of Florida and Temple University before making his NFL debut for the Carolina Panthers in 2020. At the moment, he is a free agent after being a member of the Minnesota Vikings during the preseason.

“The opportunity to have active players and legends host their own show is exciting,” Tracy Perlman, senior vice president of football operations for the National Football League, said in a statement. “This will provide practical experience, live on the air. I look forward to hearing their perspective with exclusive content, fresh off the field. We appreciate the collaboration with SiriusXM NFL Radio, and look forward to creating more exciting experiences like this for players.”
