The big news in the entertainment space on Wednesday could affect CBS Sports and Warner Bros. Discovery Sports.
Axios reported that Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav and Paramount Global CEO Bob Bakish met earlier this week in New York to discuss a possible merger of their two companies.
What a potential merger between the two companies could mean for sports coverage is that CBS Sports and offerings under the WBD umbrella would all be combined into one.
Much like how Paramount+ and Max have their respective sports offerings on their streaming services, in theory subscribers to a joint Paramount/Max service would be able to watch everything from the Super Bowl, The Masters and March Madness to the NBA, MLB, NHL and NASCAR.
The Axios report mentioned that a merger would see CBS News and CNN come together to make one massive global news operation.
