After the death of Bernie McGuirk in October 2022, Sid Rosenberg began hosting the morning show on 77WABC by himself, with a rotating cast of characters joining the program each day. One of them, Curtis Sliwa, has become a regular, joining the show every day. However, Rosenberg revealed station management didn’t necessarily want that to happen.
During Sid and Friends in the Morning Thursday, Rosenberg admitted that leaders at the New York news/talk station were skeptical of his decision to bring Sliwa to the program daily.
“Nobody loves Curtis more than me, evidenced by the fact he will join me in about 25 minutes that he’s on the show every weekday morning,” said Rosenberg. “Let me tell you, nobody else wanted that to happen. Nobody. Not even the bosses here. They were like, ‘What? What are you, nuts?’
“But I did it. And I think it’s turned out to be a great move because to Curtis’ credit, he’s a great radio guy, small doses, of course,” Rosenberg joked. “He’s a great radio guy, ok? And every day he comes on, and he’s great. He’s not good. He’s great.”
In addition to joining Sid Rosenberg every morning, Curtis Sliwa hosts his own program on 77WABC from 12:15-1:00 PM each weekday.
