Marquee Sports Network Names Diane Penny General Manager

Chicago’s Marquee Sports Network has named Diane Penny as its new senior vice president and general manager. Penny takes over for Mike McCarthy who stepped down last year after having the position since Marquee’s inception in February 2020. McCarthy still serves as a consultant to the network.

Penny, who is from the Chicago area, had previously worked for the Professional Women’s Hockey League and NBC Northwest.

“I am excited to return home to Chicago and bring my passion and hands-on leadership to the network, where we will continue the mission to deliver engaging content and award-winning productions to super serve Cubs fans,” Penny said in a statement. “Like many in the area, the Cubs were the first team I grew up following, and it’s a dream role to now have this opportunity to join Marquee Sports Network.”

Marquee Sports Network is the exclusive local television home of the Chicago Cubs, as well as a broadcast partner of the NFL’s Chicago Bears and WNBA’s Chicago Sky. In addition to providing live coverage of Cubs and Sky games, Marquee Sports Network features pregame and postgame Cubs coverage, postgame Bears coverage, local minor league and college sports programming, and unique programs and documentaries geared towards sports fans.
