Spike Eskin has announced that he will officially be joining SportsRadio 94WIP on Tuesday to begin co-hosting afternoon drive alongside Ike Reese and Jack Fritz. Within his message posted to social media, Eskin stated that “Accountability has returned to Philadelphia,” which was preceded by a congratulatory message to Ryan Hurley. Earlier on Monday, Audacy named Hurley the brand manager for WFAN and Infinity Sports Network, succeeding Eskin in the role that he held for nearly three years. Eskin expressed how it is “the greatest radio programming job in America, hands down,” and that he was grateful to work in New York with both brands.
Eskin was previously in the studio for a full edition of the WIP Afternoon Show in February ahead of him returning to the airwaves on a full-time basis. The announcement of his return to SportsRadio 94WIP came in December, commencing the nationwide search for a successor in the position. Throughout the process, Eskin stated that he was waiting for the word that he would be beginning in Philadelphia upon the conclusion of the application and interview process.
“I am thrilled to be able to work with Ike and Jack in afternoons at 94WIP,” Eskin said in a statement earlier this year. “It’s now the third job of a lifetime I’ve had the opportunity to do. Leaving WFAN and CBS Sports Radio is an incredibly difficult decision. I’m surrounded by talented, great people, and it’s been an amazing experience. I’d like to thank David Yadgaroff, Jeff Sottolano and Rod Lakin for this opportunity, and Chris Oliviero for my time in New York.”
In an appearance on Boomer & Gio this past Friday, Eskin indicated that the station was on the precipice of naming his successor. This followed intel that Jon “Stugotz” Weiner had been in the running for the position and declined the role, rationale he outlined both on a call to Boomer & Gio earlier in the show and on Meadowlark Media’s The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz.
Eskin will officially make his on-air debut as a co-host in afternoon drive on SportsRadio 94WIP on Tuesday at 2 p.m. EST with Reese and Fritz. Hurley was on the air at WFAN on Monday morning on Boomer & Gio where he expressed his excitement over joining Audacy and beginning in his new role.
