Longtime WBZ NewsRadio reporter Kim Tunnicliffe has announced she has exited the iHeartMedia-owned stations as part of a round of downsizing.
In a post to X, Tunnicliffe shared that there are things she will not miss about the job, but thanked those who trusted her with their stories.
“Some personal news to share. After 26 (years) at WBZ Radio, I’ve been let go due to corporate budget cuts. Quite the shock, but I’m taking some time for me, and spending lots of (quality time with) my pets. They love having me home & honestly, I don’t miss the hellish Boston commute,” she wrote.
“I’m taking time to decide what I want to do next, but in the meantime, I want to thank all the (people) I’ve interviewed over the years, (especially) the everyday folks who welcomed me into their homes as if I were family. Thank you for trusting me (with) your stories. It’s been an absolute honor!”
Since joining the station in 1998, Kim Tunnicliffe has covered a variety of topics, including crime, human interest stories, and politics for the Boston all-news station.
It is unclear how many, if any, other employees of the station have been affected by the cost-cutting measures.
