In recent months, MSNBC has beefed up its podcasting efforts. Now, it is launching a podcast subscription service.
MSNBC Premium launched through Apple Podcasts Monday, with a $2.99 per month price point, or $29.99 for the entire year. Subscribers will receive ad-free episodes, as well as early access to new content from the cable news outlet.
One of the early access features is for the podcast project from Rachel Maddow — Ultra — which is slated to debut on Monday, June 10th. The second season of the show is set to examine the evolution of right-wing politics since the 1950s.
“We’re meeting consumers where they are and reaching more of them than ever before. While we continue to invest in linear programming, MSNBC has built a cohesive environment where hosts and programs extend beyond cable and appear across the MSNBC portfolio, creating an expansive MSNBC ecosystem for our audience,” SVP of Content Strategy Rebecca Kutler told The Wrap.
In addition to the podcasts hosted by Maddow, other programs hosted by the likes of Chris Hayes, Andrew Weissmann, Mary McCord, and Trymaine Lee, among others will be available for subscribers.
