After more than 20 years in sports and broadcasting in various markets, David Schultz announced via social media he is leaving ESPN 103.7 and the industry.
“As I’ve said many times, ‘Life is about making the adjustments’, and I’m about to make a big one,” Schultz posted. While noting that he will still continue doing work for Locked on Sun Belt, he said, “I’m going to hang up my microphone.”
Schultz said, “It’s been an amazing ride that’s taken me across almost the entire country.” He then said he had called baseball games for teams in California, Texas, Illinois, Florida, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Meanwhile, he has sports talk radio experience in Syracuse, Harrisburg, Miam, Lafayette, and Mobile.
Schultz said in his career he has covered “college baseball regionals, Super Regionals, worked a Super Bowl, and attended a couple of World Series with my father. But now it’s time to try something new.”
He said he will be working at the Jim Beam Distillery on the Bourbon Trail in Louisville. “If you’re hitting the Bourbon Trail, please come for a visit and I’ll be happy to show you around and of course offer you a few tastings from Jim Beam,” he wrote.
Schultz added, “The most important parts have been the friendships and all of the great people I’ve met and still consider friends…Thanks for everything Lafayette.
