After departing Salem Radio Network to focus on his political career, Larry Elder is making his return to national syndication with a new evening program on the conservative talk radio network that will replace Brandon Tatum.
Elder will step into the 6-9 PM ET timeslot previously occupied by The Officer Tatum Show, hosted by Brandon Tatum, in the network’s lineup.
“By popular demand, the watchman returns to his post,” said Elder.
“Larry is one of a rare breed who actually grew in popularity and influence after he departed the radio,” said Salem Media Group Senior Vice President of Spoken Word Phil Boyce. “Now we get to hear his sage words of wisdom daily on radio stations across the country, on Salem News Channel, and the Salem Podcast Network.”
Elder departed the network in 2022 to run for Governor of California. He later launched a presidential campaign but failed to garner enough support to appear in the Republican primary debates.
His return to the Salem Radio Network lineup is not a surprise. Last month, Larry Elder told 77 WABC morning show host Sid Rosenberg that he was in contract discussions with the company to return to his previous radio home.
As Tatum departs the nationally syndicated lineup, he praised Elder’s return, noting that he’ll continue to have a presence in the conservative social media ecosystem.
“I started doing radio because I was inspired by Larry, so when the opportunity arose for Larry to come back to the radio, I was honored to make room for him like he did for me a few years ago,” said Tatum. “You will still be able to hear me on my YouTube channel, and everywhere else, and I will continue to be a fan of Larry Elder.”
In addition to his new show with Salem Radio Network, the podcast from Larry Elder — We’ve Got a Country to Save — will air as a video simulcast on the Salem News Channel.
Why did Mr Tatum leave the air?
