WTAM 1100 midday host Jimmy Malone has announced he has exited the Cleveland news/talk station as iHeartMedia makes sweeping cuts around the nation Thursday.
Malone took to social media Thursday morning to reveal his program had been canceled and he had been removed from the station.
“I’ll have more to say later, but after decades of loyalty to my company, they fired me after my show today and didn’t give me a chance to say goodbye to my listeners,” Malone said. “I’m grateful for all of the support I’ve received for so long.”
He added that he’ll miss working with colleagues Bill Wills, Mike Snyder, and his producer Rob Rozycki.
The Jimmy Malone Show was heard from 9-10 AM on WTAM 1100. He joined the station to fill the shoes vacated when Geraldo Rivera departed. Malone had previously worked in music radio for the cluster.
He is not the only member of the iHeartMedia Cleveland staff to exit Thursday. Carletta Blake, program director of the cluster’s country station, has also departed, as have staffers at locales like Salt Lake City and Phoenix.
iHeartMedia announced in its second quarter financial results that despite bringing in $929 million in revenue during the three month period, the company lost $910 million.

Boo! Way to not mention the 40+ years he has been a stellar broadcaster in Cleveland! He was the co-host of the #1 morning program for over a decade. He is an institution in Cleveland and you made it sound like he was a temp brought in when Geraldo left. I get that iHeart is bleeding but give the man his due. Love you Jimmy, you truly are the sanest man in Cleveland and you deserved better.
Today 8/13 I looked up why Jimmy Malone show wasn’t on WTAM. What? Gone? I listen to WTAM all morning and plan breakfast time for 9:00 to settle in snd listen to his show. He’s informative! The authors he had on after he reads their books, who else does that? Helpful interviews with everyday topics that concern all our daily lives – outside of politics. Then at 10:00 I turn that radio off so fast. I don’t need people spewing hate in my life, I need intelligent topics with a local feel. Malone gave us all that and more, much more. Your personality and topics will be missed.
I am disappointed beyond belief. This was one of my favorite morning. Shows to listen. Listen listen to not only was it informative. He would give you a great amount of information to digest from various points of view and was humorous. he and Rob Rozicki made such a great team! Going to miss these two.
