Audacy is flipping ALT 96.5 in /Kansas City to sports on August 15th. Barrett Media broke the news earlier this morning.
Longtime ALT 96.5 afternoon drive show, “Church of Lazlo,” with Lazlo, Slimfast, and Snowcone, moves to 98.9 The Rock as part of the changes starting today (8/8). The show will continue airing on ALT 96.5 via simulcast until August 14th at 6pm CT. The station will sign off at that time, and 96.5 The Fan will launch at 6am CT on August 15th.
KRBZ had a 21-year run in the Alternative format. The station previously known as 96.5 The Buzz rebranded as ALT 96.5 in 2020.
Lazlo took to social media to promote his new radio station address. As expected, KC radio listeners had a lot to say about the changes.
98.9 The Rock is a higher rated station than ALT 96.5 was so the move gives Lazlo more ears to entertain. “Church of Lazlo” now fills out a lineup on the station that includes The Johnny Dare Morning Show, and Ryan Westward in middays.
