Chicago Blackhawks Name Charlie Roumeliotis as Host for Radio Network Broadcasts

"I’m thrilled about the journey ahead and eager to engage and inform the team’s loyal fan base.”

Former Chicago Blackhawks TV studio host Charlie Roumeliotis has been tabbed by the NHL franchise and WGN Radio to serve in the same role on the team’s radio broadcasts.

Roumeliotis previously served as the Blackhawks insider for NBC Sports Chicago from 2019 through 2024. That regional sports network will cease operations at the conclusion of the month. He also previously served as a Blackhawks correspondent for the NHL.

“I’m incredibly excited to join WGN Radio as the Chicago Blackhawks’ studio host,” Charlie Roumeliotis said. “Growing up, I was an avid listener of Blackhawks’ broadcasts, especially those with John Wiedeman and Troy Murray, whose voices and insights helped fuel my passion for the sport. To have the chance to work alongside them is an absolute honor. I’m thrilled about the journey ahead and eager to engage and inform the team’s loyal fan base.”

“Adding Charlie to our broadcast booth further demonstrates our teamwork with the Chicago Blackhawks,” said WGN Radio Vice President and General Manager Mary Sandberg Boyle. “Already a familiar voice to our fans, Charlie’s relationship with John and Troy and the Blackhawks organization ensures this transition will be seamless and we are excited for his debut this season!”

Charlie Roumeliotis replaces Joe Brand, who was recently hired as the radio play-by-play voice for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

“We’re very excited to welcome Charlie Roumeliotis to our WGN Radio Blackhawks broadcasts,” said WGN Radio sports director Dave Eanet. “Blackhawks fans have enjoyed Charlie’s hockey expertise for years, and now they’ll get to hear him every time the Hawks play – in pregame, postgame and intermissions.”

Earlier this year, the Blackhawks and WGN Radio agreed to a three-year extension for the station to remain as the flagship of the team’s radio network.
