FCC Drops Big Fines On Miami And New York Area Pirate Operators

Earlier this year, the six pirates were issued Notices of Apparent Liability, but they failed to respond.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has imposed $1,837,330 in fines on six illegal radio operators in the Miami and New York regions, utilizing the authority granted by the PIRATE Act.

The FCC levied $358,665 in fines against Brindley “Bo da Lover” Marshall for illegally operating “Hot 97.7 FM” in Miami since at least 2016 and against Cameron “DJ Fresh” Brown for unlawfully operating “The Plug” on 89.5 FM in Miami since at least 2014.

Abdias ‘DJ AJ’ Datis was fined $120,000 for operating the unlicensed radio station “Unique FM” on 91.7 MHz in Miami Gardens and North Miami. Since 2018, Datis had been broadcasting from four office suites leased to his wife, as well as his personal residence.

The FCC levied $40,000 fines against Raul Alcantara for unlawfully operating “88.9 Sabor FM” in the Bronx from November 2023 to January 2024, as well as against Wilner Baptiste for illegally broadcasting “M-One Live Radio” on 94.1 MHz in Spring Valley, New York from January 2024 to June 2024.

Masner Beauplan was fined $920,000 for illegally operating an unlicensed radio station called “Radio Leve Kanpe” on 91.7 MHz in Irvington and Maplewood, New Jersey, from November 2023 to January 2024.
