CNN to Simulcast CBS News Vice Presidential Debate, Announces Ancillary Programming For Event

CNN has announced plans to simulcast the CBS News Vice Presidential Debate and has set shoulder programming surrounding the Tuesday event.

The network joins several other simulcast partners for the televised event pitting Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) against Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN).

In addition to airing on its cable network, CNN will simulcast the broadcast on CNN Max, CNN.com, the CNN app, CNN International, and CNN en Espanol.

Coverage of the debate — which CNN is branding “Debate Night in America” — will begin at 4 PM ET with The Lead with Jake Tapper. He’ll be live from New York where Vance and Walz will debate.

The Situation Room will be anchored live from the debate spin room with Wolf Blitzer and Erin Burnett. The coverage will continue with Erin Burnett OutFront with Tapper and Burnett being joined by Abby Phillip and Dana Bash. Anderson Cooper will also broadcast his primetime program at 8 PM ET from New York before the debate.

Post-debate analysis will be led by Cooper and Tapper until 1 AM ET. John King, Kaitlan Collins, Jeff Zeleny, Phil Mattingly, MJ Lee, and Kristen Holmes will all contribute to the day’s coverage of the event.
