SiriusXM host Howard Stern recently sat down with Vice President Kamala Harris for an interview that has been maligned by many. 95.5 WSB host Eric Von Haessler is in that group.
During Stern’s interview with Harris, he asked the Democratic presidential candidates a variety of questions that most didn’t view as hard-hitting in nature. In fact, most critics have labeled the discussion as a “softball interview.”
During The Von Haessler Doctrine, the Atlanta-based host argued that if you have interview access to the people who are aiming to occupy the office of the presidency, you have a duty to ask more difficult questions than Stern did.
“I understand that not every show wants to tackle the fact that we’re $35 trillion in debt and sleepwalking toward World War 3, but if you’re going to choose to have people on who are in those positions, I don’t give a damn what they eat for breakfast,” said Von Haessler. “I think Shaun Cassidy, in the 70s, faced harsher questioning from Sixteen Magazine. Sure, we got his favorite color and his favorite breakfast, but I think he was pinned down on with where he stood on the Middle East crisis,” he said in jest.
Eric Von Haessler continued by questioning why Stern still even hosts a show if he’s going to potentially damage the legacy he built as one of the best radio hosts in history.
“Why doesn’t he just quit? He’s got all the money in the world. Do people still listen to that show?” he concluded. “It costs money to listen to that show. Are you telling me people pay money to listen to him ask Kamala Harris about Raisin Bran? There’s no way that’s helping XMSirius’ (sic) bottom line.”
