ABC News’ This Week with George Stephanopoulos has been in a tight ratings battle with CBS News’ Face the Nation and NBC News’ Meet the Press. The CBS News program anchored by Margaret Brennan won the ratings battle during the second Sunday in October.
On Sunday, October 13th, Face the Nation scored the ratings win in total viewers. More than 2.7 million viewers tuned into the CBS News program. This Week with George Stephanopoulos — anchored by Martha Raddatz in Stephanpoulos’ stead on Sunday — was a close second with 2.4 million viewers, while NBC News show Meet the Press — anchored by Kristen Welker — saw an average audience of 2.2 million viewers, according to Nielsen.
In the Adults 25-54 demographic, ABC News (483,000 viewers) held a slight advantage over both CBS News (463,000) and NBC News (444,000).
Face the Nation on Sunday, October 13th featured a conversation with House Speaker Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA), Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL), as well as an in-studio appearance from Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas.
Margaret Brennan’s conversation with Speaker Johnson subsequently came under fire following the televised portion of his interview. He argued that his comments were selectively edited to make him look bad.
“The Biden-Harris Admin let millions of illegal aliens in our country. So, the House passed the SAVE Act to ensure only American citizens vote in American elections,” Johnson wrote on social media. “CBS edited that out and focused on 2020 instead of immediate threats to election integrity.”
CBS News Director of Election and Surveys Anthony Salvanto also appeared to discuss the latest CBS News polls that showed Vice President Kamala Harris held a 51%-48% lead over Donald Trump while that spread was down to just 1% in battleground states.
