Apple Music’s Global Head of Radio & Music Programming is retiring. After 40 years in the radio industry, Charlie Morgan has decided to call it a career.
Morgan started his career in Indianapolis at WFMS. He worked on-air before ascending to programming and operations positions. He became Vice President and Market Manager for Susquehanna in 2000, and then joined Emmis Communications in Indianapolis as SVP and Market Manager in 2009.
His run with Emmis saw him move from the Midwest to the Big Apple, becoming Market Manager for the company’s New York cluster. Morgan left Emmis and joined Apple Music in 2020.
Morgan is a member of the Country Radio Hall of Fame, and has served as board chairman for the Country Music Association. His exit puts Jay Liepis in charge of Morgan’s Global Head of Radio and Music responsibilities. Michael Bryan, Apple’s Global Head of Country Music will absorb Liepis’ duties.
