This past weekend saw a terrific schedule of college football games and once again the SEC on ABC scored a large audience. The game featuring two top-five teams with the Georgia Bulldogs facing the Texas Longhorns drew an average audience of 12.9 million viewers. The game peaked at 14.1 million viewers. The network says the game was ESPN platforms’ best regular season game since 2016 and the second best in 10 years.
In addition, the game between Alabama and Tennessee averaged 10.7 million viewers. That game peaked even higher at 14.7 million viewers. ESPN says this is the second-most-watched Alabama-Tennessee matchup on record.
This is the first time since 1996 that a single network aired two regular season games which reached 10 million or more viewers on the same day.
The SEC on ABC has Missouri at Alabama at 3:30 p.m. ET and LSU at Texas A&M at 7:30 p.m. ET on its schedule this coming weekend. The following weekend, the only game currently locked in will be the Florida-Georgia game from Jacksonville at 3:30 p.m. ET. The rest of the broadcast schedule will be announced at a later time.
