OG Triangle Media has announced it has added Mia O’Brien and Mitch Northam to the company. The duo is set to host a new podcast focused on women’s basketball at the NCAA and WNBA levels. The Women’s Basketball Show with Mia & Mitch will debut Wednesday, Oct. 30 across all podcasting platforms. A video version will be available the same day on YouTube.

O’Brien has spent more than a decade covering college sports and the NFL for local television and radio stations. She currently co-hosts Helmets & Heels on 1010XL in Jacksonville, Florida and is part of the station’s coverage of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Her passion for women’s hoops dates back to her time in Iowa covering coach Lisa Bluder and the Hawkeyes, back when Caitlin Clarke was still in high school (which she also covered).

“I’m honored and humbled by OG Triangle Media for not only giving Mitch and I this opportunity — but for believing in the power of women’s basketball in the landscape of Sport,” O’Brien said in a release. “If you had told me when I first began covering Division I women’s basketball in 2015 that there would be an appetite nationally — not just regionally — for a one-stop shop for all things women’s basketball, I never would have believed you.”

Mitch Northam has been covering women’s basketball for nearly a decade and has reported on the sport at both the professional and collegiate levels. He is a voter in the AP Top 25 for women’s college basketball and has authored two books: Rowdy and Proud: Atlanta United’s 2018 MLS Cup Season and Other Southern Soccer Stories and High School Basketball on Maryland’s Eastern Shore: A Shore Hoops History.

“My hope is that our show can enlighten, entertain and inform fans, whether they’ve been following the sport for 20 years or two weeks,” Northam said. “There are women’s basketball podcasts out there with X’s and O’s analysis and interviews with coaches and players. We might have a little bit of that, but Mia and I are also huge fans of this sport, and we’re going to talk about it like fans.”

Demetri Ravanos, founder of OG Triangle Media’s live events partner September Creative and host of the network’s This Team is Killing Us podcast put O’Brien and Northam together and will serve as the show’s executive producer.

New episodes of The Women’s Basketball Show with Mia & Mitch will be released each week. Special episodes focused exclusively on what is happening in women’s basketball in the Triangle and the ACC will debut as part of the network’s OG Fans subscription service.
