Core Communicators has launched Hip Hop Streetz 100.3 on Coastal Broadcasting’s ESPN 100.3 KLRZ in New Orleans.
Streetz 100.3 is launching with 5,000 commercial-free songs in a row.
Core returns to New Orleans nearly 20 years after its On Top Communications hip-hop station, Hot 104.5 (KNOU), was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. This disaster ultimately led the company to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in early 2006.
Further setbacks occurred when Hurricane Gustav damaged temporary facilities in 2008. The station changed ownership twice before officially relaunching, as in the 1980s, Hits “Z104.5” in 2013.
According to the LMA filed with the FCC, the $10,000 monthly fees associated with the LMA will be credited towards the purchase if the option is exercised.
