Donald Trump held a rally in Pennsylvania over the weekend, ruffling some feathers in the media in the process. During a speech, Trump joked that if another attempt on his life took place, the shot would have to come from the back. That suggested that a bullet would have to go through the media to reach him.

“I have this piece of glass here, but all we have really over here is the fake news. And to get me, somebody would have to shoot through the fake news. And I don’t mind that so much,” Trump remarked.

Trump’s Campaign National Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt defended the former President and Republican Candidate, saying, “Obviously he was joking.” Leavitt accused the media of trying to scrutinize his every word, and steer focus away from the issues most Americans care about.

The comments drew reactions from news television and talk radio professionals both on-air and online. Below are how some responded on social media.
