Megyn Kelly and Chris Cuomo have never really seen eye-to-eye on much. The pair have traded barbs with one another for nearly a decade. But that didn’t stop Cuomo from reigniting the feud on Monday after Kelly spoke at a Donald Trump rally.
On his NewsNation primetime program, Chris Cuomo aired a portion of Kelly’s speech stumping for the Republican nominee.
“Megyn Kelly making the closing argument for the man she once despised. Why? Opportunity and advantage,” the Cuomo host said before airing the speech.
When he then returned, he lobbed shots at the SiriusXM host.
“Look, it works for her podcast. Magnifying minorities, picking up on fringe issues, picking on Laken Riley is of course going to hit an emotional note,” he said. “If you’re worried about homicide in America, is that where your concerns really lie? No, it’s just opportunism. Will it be enough for Trump?”
Chris Cuomo continued by noting that, in his view, someone like Megyn Kelly wouldn’t be enough to sway voters in the Republican candidate’s direction.
“The question is, are enough people who are center-left gonna hear somebody like Megyn Kelly and say, ‘Yeah, I gotta vote for him, doesn’t matter how I feel about him’? Or are there more people who are center-right who are gonna listen to Megyn Kelly and be like, ‘Ugh, I’m so disgusted she’s on my side. I can’t vote for this guy.’ He said the worst things about Megyn Kelly until she did the only thing you need to do to be okay with Trump: compliment him.”
When a producer told him the network was going to return to Kelly’s speech at the Donald Trump rally, Cuomo replied that he’d rather take another call from a listener instead.
