The College Sports Company has announced it has partnered with BYU donor group, Cougar Assist Club, to launch a free sports media network which will be solely focused on BYU athletes. The network is called Center Street Media and according to the Sports Business Journal it will “eventually feature up to four shows, including a weekly podcast starring a yet-to-be-named member of the football team, a social media series featuring athletes across different BYU sports and more.”
The College Sports Company announced about a month ago, a similar project at Tennessee called Rock Media. When it launched the network was described as one which will feature n-depth conversations with athletes and coaches, exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of Tennessee Athletics, and much more.
When Rock Media launched, College Sports Co. co-founder Adam Breneman said, “Having seen firsthand the impact of athlete-driven content and media networks, I know how powerful they can be in elevating the brands of athletes and creating new opportunities for NIL revenue. Rock Media will give Tennessee a significant advantage by connecting one of the country’s most passionate fan bases with their favorite athletes in ways never seen before. I’m excited to see how this will transform NIL for years to come.”
While the Tennessee project is associated with the school’s NIL collective, as is College Sports Co.’s deals at other schools such as Penn State, South Carolina and Louisville, the BYU project is not tied to their official NIL efforts. According to the SBJ report, “a portion of the profits will still flow back to BYU’s NIL collective, but the majority will go directly to athletes signed through direct NIL deals with the network.” The Cougar Assist Club and The College Sports Company will each own an undisclosed stake in Center Street Media.
