Lara Dua-Swartz has been appointed as the Program Director and Content Strategist for WUGA (91.7 & 94.5), the University of Georgia’s NPR affiliate in Athens, GA.
For the past year and a half, she has contributed to the station as both an On-Air Host and Digital Content Producer while also serving as a midday host for Cox Media Group’s AC Magic 102.1 WGMG.
Dua-Swartz succeeds Martin Matheny, who exited WUGA in August after 12 years with the station.
Before relocating to Athens, Dua-Swartz was on air in New York City at the now-defunct ALT 92.3, WPLJ, and 92.3 NOW under the on-air name “Lars.”
She also spent seven years at iHeartMedia’s Top 40 HOT 99.5 in Washington, in late-night and midday slots as “Vibegrrl.”
Dua-Swartz said, “I’m so thrilled and beyond grateful for the opportunity to help WUGA expand its audience across Athens-Clarke County and Northeast Georgia. I have always longed for a chance to marry my skill sets in a way that will allow me to really give back to my community, and this position embodies that wholly.”
