Ray Stevens is set to exit KCMO Talk Radio in Kansas City in an effort to focus all of his attention on his morning show with WLS-AM 890 in Chicago. The station is adding a one-hour shot with Kevin Kietzman to the station’s daily lineup.
Stevens has been hosting mornings on the Cumulus Media Chicago station since replacing Steve Cochran in June. He began hosting middays at KCMO in September of last year after Chris Stigall departed. He continued to host the 10 AM-Noon timeslot in Kansas City after taking over mornings at WLS.
“WLS needs every ounce of my being and we expect to continue with our heavy street presence,” Stevens told Barrett Media. “Our job is to be in every neighborhood in Chicagoland doing charity work and bringing our show to the public. To do that makes it hard to give my best KCMO.”
Stevens added his appreciation for KCMO Program Director Pete Mundo, Cumulus Media Kansas City Vice President and Market Manager Donna Baker, and producer Mark Van Sickle for their efforts making his show a success.
“I wish them the best and will look back at it as one of my favorite all-time gigs … Now it’s time to make WLS AM great again!”
The final episode of The Ray Stevens Show aired last week.
Kietzman joins after previously hosting a sports talk show in Kansas City on crosstown 810 WHB. Kietzman departed the station in 2019 after 22 years amid controversy. He had been critical of Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, saying “discipline is not his thing”, mentioning that one of Reid’s sons died of a drug overdose in 2012 and another one of his sons was involved in a drunk driving accident that injured a young child.
Kevin Kietzman Uncanceled will air at 10 AM on KCMO. He’ll continue to host his Kevin Kietzman Has Issues podcast after joining the Cumulus Media Kansas City station.
The Dan Bongino Show will now air in full on KCMO. It will air from 11 AM-2 PM in its entirety to fill the timeslot previously occupied by Stevens.
