The Chicago Cubs and Audacy’s sports radio station 670 The Score officially announced signing new long-term contract extensions with their on-air broadcast team of Pat Hughes and Ron Coomer.
Hughes and Coomer have worked together calling Cubs games for 11 years, including the 108=year curse-busting 2016 season, when the lovable losers turned into World Series champs..
Local outlets reported that Hughes and Coomer would be coming back last month. Hughes and Coomer appeared on the Score’s Mully and Haugh show Wednesday morning to discuss their new contract.
“We join Cubs fans around the world in celebrating having Pat and Ron back next season and beyond,” Mitch Rosen, Vice President and Brand Manager of 670 The Score, said in a statement. “He and Coom make a fantastic team, and they truly are the voices of Spring and Summer in Chicagoland and around the country. It will be extra special to celebrate Pat’s 30th season behind the mic for Cubs baseball in 2025.”
Hughes will be marking his 30th season as the radio voice of the Cubs next spring. He was inducted into the Nation Baseball Hall of Fame in 2023, earning the Ford C. Frick Award.
Coomer was a one-time All-Star who played for the Cubs in 2001 before becoming a broadcaster.
“Pat and Ron have been with our fans for many of the most memorable moments in Cubs history,” said Cubs Chief Commercial Officer Colin Faulkner. “Their voices are synonymous with Cubs baseball and the voices of our summer. We are thrilled they will continue to bring their passion and expertise to our fans for years to come.”
