Hoppy Kercheval to Step Away From ‘Talkline’, Dave Wilson and T.J. Meadows to Step In

"It is hard to step away from the show that has meant so much to me, but I have confidence in Dave and T.J.”

Hoppy Kercheval has been a West Virginia radio staple for nearly 50 years. That run is about to end, however, as he’s announced his upcoming retirement from his long-running show.

Kercheval will step away from the MetroNews Talkline show he has helmed at the end of the year. Veteran broadcasters Dave Wilson and T.J. Meadows will step into the role previously held by the radio legend.

“It is hard to step away from the show that has meant so much to me, but I have confidence in Dave and T.J.,” Kercheval said. “They are professionals who share my passion for bringing relevant and compelling stories to our state.”

Kercheval has been the only host in the WV MetroNews show’s long history.

Wilson and Meadows will begin helming the show on Monday, January 6th.

“Although Dave and TJ will be new to hosting Talkline on a daily basis, both have had extensive experience with the show,” WVRC Media President and CEO George Pelletier said. “We are excited to have two seasoned veterans to assist us in the next chapter of Talkline.”

Despite his departure from the daily radio show, Hoppy Kercheval will continue to provide his weekly commentary for the network, and will also work on special projects and remain a member of the 3 Guys Before the Game podcast.
