Pablo Torre: Meadowlark Media Allows Us to ‘Make Something from Scratch’ That Lives Up to ‘Some Amount of Hype’

"We are paying journalists to go report stories for us. We’re trying to go to death row as well as trying to buy a sculpture of myself made out of butter."

Pablo Torre has been a member of Meadowlark Media for almost two years where he launched a new podcast to explore his journalistic curiosities and idiosyncrasies within the sports world. The show, which is eponymously titled Pablo Torre Finds Out, performs deep-dive investigative reporting several times per week, along with having conversations pertaining to the biggest stories in sports, media and business. As the calendar year comes to a close, Torre made an appearance on The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz to celebrate the success of the company and ring in 2025. Le Batard revealed that Friday’s episode was the last new show of the year amid its 20th anniversary, during which the program revealed expanded distribution to Peacock and the NBC Sports FAST channel.

Torre’s show recently released episodes featuring Sue Bird and Paul Finebaum before reflecting on the report from The Athletic about New York Jets owner Woody Johnson with Dan Le Batard and Mina Kimes. During the calendar year, he and his program have explored enigmatic, ambiguous topics and reached conclusions through compelling and engaging episodes distributed on audio and video platforms.

“What I’m here to say is that it’s a show that we really couldn’t launch without Dan, and so when Dan talks about how much it costs, I reckon with that because the whole thing is that we make a show with ambition that is powered by people who otherwise are not getting paid,” Torre said. “We are paying journalists to go report stories for us. We’re trying to go to death row as well as trying to buy a sculpture of myself made out of butter.”

Torre delineated that his show wavers from the sublime to the ridiculous, but it always retains an unwavering commitment to storytelling and journalism. Offering a legitimate message of thanks to Le Batard, he feels proud that the premise of Meadowlark Media in making “something from scratch” that lives up to “some amount of hype” has been achieved at some level.

“I am very proud that on some level we have done that, and it’s really hard, and so thank you to Dan and to everybody in Miami for enabling the nonsense that I know you guys like to make fun of, but deep down, I think you might like,” Torre said. “Just like a library, you know has some fun stuff in it too.”

Amin Elhassan quipped that Torre’s show only cost $242 million, leading Le Batard to exclaim that Torre should have seen what he “found out” when he was looking at some of the numbers. Torre then emphasized that he has discovered that Le Batard should not be in finance meetings since he usually exits them and has subsequent takes.

“I come out of those things, and I’m like, ‘I got taken by everyone in our company. Everyone who wants more,’” Le Batard articulated. “I just looked at some of those numbers. It’s a dizzying array of following everybody’s curiosities totally into an abyss.”

Torre conveyed that he did thank Le Batard for the investment Meadowlark Media has made in his show. This led Le Batard to inform Torre that it actually does make it okay and wished him a Happy Holidays. Le Batard then closed the show by expressing gratitude to everyone who helps the company operate and shared that it has close to 50 employees and several contractors.
