New Jersey 101.5 morning host Bill Spadea has signed off from his duties at the Townsquare Media news/talk station as he focuses on his run for the Governor’s office in the state.
Spadea has spent nearly a decade hosting mornings at New Jersey 101.5. But in June last year, he announced he would seek the Republican nomination for Governor in the state. As the primary begins to heat up, he is departing the news/talk station in an effort to spend more time campaigning for the state’s highest office.
Thursday was his final show with the outlet, and concluded it by sharing his appreciation for the station and his audience for his near-decade run.
“For years I would sign off, saying, ‘Don’t worry. I’ll be back tomorrow.’ But today, I’m going to say: I’m not coming back tomorrow,” Spadea said with a laugh. “I just have to say this has been an unbelievable run. I’m blessed to have had this experience. Onto the next chapter,” he concluded.
Spadea’s exit coincides with a challenge from his biggest competitor for the nomination — Jack Ciattarelli — who claims Townsquare Media and New Jersey 101.5 granted Spadea unfair benefits in the race. However, the station and host have previously won a challenge by Ciattarelli for similar charges.
Bill Spadea was recently ranked 21st in the Barrett News Media Top 20 Mid-Market Morning Show list.
