Erin Maloney has been named the new program director of Arizona Sports 98.7 and ESPN 620, Bonneville Phoenix announced on Thursday. Maloney, who is a former intern at the station, most recently served as the assistant program director and is now being promoted following the departure of Brian Long. After spending the last 18 months with the company, Long was hired by iHeartMedia to serve as the program director for KFI AM 640, AM 570 LA Sports and 1150 The Patriot in Los Angeles.
“From starting as an intern in 2012 and growing into leadership roles throughout her career, no one is more passionate about our sports brands than Erin,” Ryan Hatch, senior vice president and market manager of Bonneville Phoenix, said in a statement. “She is so well respected by everyone in the market, and we are very excited for her to take this next step.”
Maloney has spent her career in the sports media business working at Arizona Sports, serving as the afternoon show producer and update anchor since 2015. With Long moving on from the station, she now earns the opportunity to assume greater responsibility. Arizona Sports is consistently the top performing sports audio brand in the market, and has play-by-play rights agreements with the Arizona Cardinals, Phoenix Suns, Arizona Diamondbacks and Arizona State University football and basketball.
