April was the first full month that Vince Coglianese hosted the podcast previously helmed by Dan Bongino. That was evident in the latest Podtrac rankings, as the show fell out of the top 10.
The Dan Bongino Show routinely finished in the top five before the eponymous host departed the program to join the FBI as its Deputy Director. Vince Coglianese was tabbed as the replacement for Bongino and officially took over the program midway through March.
April was always set to be the litmus test for Coglianese. And while his new show fell out of the top 10, it did remain in the top 20 podcasts from Podtrac in the U.S. Unique Monthly Audience list. VINCE finished the month in the 18th position on the list. That represented an 11-position drop for the show.
The podcast from Vince Coglianese wasn’t the biggest tumbler of the month, however. Noticentro, which earned sixth place on the list in March, fell completely out of the top 20 in April.
The top five podcasts — NPR News Now, The Daily, Up First from NPR, Dateline NBC, and the Fox News Hourly Update — all finished in the same positions as they did during the month of March.
The Shawn Ryan Show moved up two positions to finish sixth, while Today, Explained moved into the top 10 with a ninth-place ranking.
Of the top 20 programs according to Podtrac, 13 came from the news genre or were produced by news networks. The Ben Shapiro Show remained unchanged in the 13th place, while The Ezra Klein Show from The New York Times moved up one position to 14th. True crime shows from CBS News — 48 Hours — and ABC News — 20/20 — finished 15th and 17th, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Morning Wire from digital titan The Daily Wire joined the top 20 list in the final spot in the rankings.
In the Top U.S. Podcast Publishers & Networks rankings, iHeart Audience Network and iHeartPodcasts remained in the top two positions. NPR Sales Network, Libsyn, and Acast rounded out the top five, respectively.
